This things huge - 2.2 x 1.1cm , the biggest canvas Ive ever worked on . I took my time and spent 3 weeks stretching and preparing the surface so its been really nice to work on



first up , the sepia oil sketch to get everything in the right place



next the sky is done , then the first coat on the water



added more detail to the island , mountains , trees on the left , then got stuck into the water



another layer on the water , then on to the sand



more work on the sand , still a long way to go though



changed the waves at the front a little ( one more coat to go ) , finished the trees / island ( hard to see in this picture though ) and started the boat while the sand dries enough to do the next coat on that



here's a detail shot of the first coat on the canoe / boat thing , another coat or two on that then its on to the sand , which is going to take atleast another couple layers plus detail

Painted all last night till 3 and all day today , this ones finally looking finished

Added a heap of figures on the beach and touched up a few other parts . If the next one turns out like this one I'll be happy .
Need to now paint the edges of the canvas and give it a couple coats of spray varnish
